Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

Elf On A Shelf Days 8-13

Looks like Mini E got in on the action!

Sledding, hammocking, riding the dog’s toy dragon, pretending to be an astronaut in a rocket,  being a burrito elf next to a burrito kid, climbing a steep snowy mountain

Elf Shenanigans Days 1-7

This year we have our regular Elf and our RV elf (Mini E), to help celebrate the season.

Our elves have gotten up to a few shenanigans this season. I wonder what 2 elves will do?

It’s hard to be an Elf in a Human sized house!

(ElfAPotty is made from a cardboard box. The toilet is made from a reused K-cup and toilet paper roll.)

Mini E, Elf Days 8-15

Day 8: Hid in a very messy desk.

Day 9: Hid behind hubby's green screen for work.

Day 10: Didn't move very far, as he was sleeping on top of our bedroom slide-out.

Day 11: Hid in the pantry guarding the new bag of chips.

Day 12: Left a rummy game for the boys.

Day 13: Sitting on a much cleaner desk.

Day 14: Hid in the cabinet by the plates, napkins, and coffee supplies.

Day 15: Somehow got stuck in the paper towel roll/holder.

Elf Shenanigans Of The Past

I thought I would refresh the list of the favorite Elf visits. I'm trying to get some inspiration for new ideas that I could translate into the RV this year.

If you need any ideas for your Elf (or reindeer/snowman/whatever creature you may hide), here are some of our Elf's past exploits. (NOTE: These are only some of his previous ideas, but all of his appearances can be found under Categories: Elf On The Shelf.)

Elf Days 21-22

Day 21: E was hiding in the office on my messy bookcase.
Day 22: Enjoying a candy cane, sitting in the tree.

Elf: Day 19-20

Day 19: Eugene decided to take a Ninja Training course. It looks like he is practicing in the kids’ bathroom.

Day 22: E stayed in the bathroom practicing his stealth/blending/camouflage while hiding in Higgins’ robe. The kids really liked the ninja costume so E stayed in it.

I had some left over black fabric from a previous project. I cut out a rough outline of the elf. It was 10:00pm when I started, so I just did some quick stitches (nothing really nice or fancy). After I finished and squeezed the elf into it, I then made his mask with another crap of fabric. He is kind of sewn into the mask, so that outfit will not last long. I may redo it in the future and plan it out better so I don’t start so late at night. 😂

Elf Days 14-18

Day 14: Elf was found in a stocking on the mantle.
Day 15: Elf didn’t move.
Day 16: Elf didn’t move. I forgot. Again. I’ve been busy baking the cookies for the neighbors and for Christmas events, plus trying to get some wrapping in before school is out, and forgot about the elf. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Day 17: Elf is hiding on the ceiling fan. It’s near the TV, so he has a good view to keep an eye on everyone and to catch his shows.
Day 18: E is hiding in the wreath.

Elf Days 11-13

Day 11: E hid in the coffee K-pods.
Day 12: Oops! Someone was too tired to move.
Day 13: Made a new friend. Doesn’t talk much though.

Christmas Time Is Coming Soon!

Oh my gosh! Christmas is in a week and a half! It's been a little crazy around here with school and life in general.  Below are my Christmas ideas for food/drinks, crafts/activities, and gifts. The majority of this post will be from previous years, but if I get caught up and have more ideas, I will update the list.

I hope the Holiday season finds you all happy and well!
