Layered Jello

My husband loves this layered jello dessert. I first made it last year for Christmas using lime, lemon, and cherry gelatin. For Valentine's Day, I used strawberry, lemon, and raspberry gelatin. It takes awhile to make, but it's a hit! If you don't like cherry, use strawberry or raspberry instead! For 4th of July, try it with a blue gelatin to create a blue, white, and red striped dessert. If you want to cut out the sugar, a sugar free gelatin works just as well!

Serves: 9. Time: 4-5 hours

You will need:
  • (2) .3 oz packages lime gelatin
  • (2) .3 oz packages lemon gelatin
  • (2) .3 oz packages cherry gelatin
  • (2) 8 oz packages cream cheese, softened. (An easy way to soften is to remove cream cheese from package, place on a plate and microwave for 20 seconds on each side.)
  • ReddiWhip or Cool-Whip for topping, optional
  • Clear cups (glass works best)

Directions:
1. Make lime jello according to box directions. Fill 9 clear cups evenly. Sit in the refrigerator to set, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
2. Make lemon jello. Dissolve in 2 cups boiling water. Mix in softened cream cheese. Do NOT mix in the cups of cold water! Let sit until cooled, but not set. Fill evenly on top of green. Refrigerate until set.
3. Make red jello. Let sit until cooled, but not set. Fill evenly on top of lemon layer. Refrigerate until set.
4. If desired, add whipped cream before serving. Enjoy!

  2. Thank you! I am making a Dr. Seuss themed meal and I was looking for how to make a red and white jello parfait for dessert (to look like The Cat in the Hat's hat). This is perfect. The center looks more white than yellow, right?

    1. That's such a cool idea! The middle layer can have a slight yellow tint in certain lights, but I would say it definitely looks more white than yellow.

  3. Hi Sarah, making this for Memorial Day. May I ask what size glass you used - 6oz, 8oz? Thank you. Gramma Kaye

    1. I'm pretty sure the ones pictured are 8 oz glasses, but I've made them in a few different sizes. If you use a larger glass, it may need to set just a little bit longer. Hope you enjoy them :)
