Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

Happy Holiday Cards

Higgins wanted to make a craft today, so we made a scene with a Christmas tree and reindeer with his fingerprints. These would also make a great homemade card!

You will need:
  • Craft paint: green, brown, red
  • Paint brush
  • Black marker
  • Glitter, optional
  • Glue stick, optional
  • Paper

Directions:
1.   Lightly paint a finger tip green and press down. We used his pointer finger.
2.   Lightly paint finger tip again and press twice under the first print.
3.   Continue adding 1 fingerprint per line of the tree until you reach the size you want.
4.   Paint thumb brown and press down for the trunk.
5.   Next, paint thumb brown and press down to create the reindeer's head.
6.   Dip the end of the paintbrush in red paint and create a nose.
7.   Once the tree has dried, go back and add ornaments. We painted a pinky finger with red paint and he decorated the tree. Let dry.
8.   When the reindeer have dried, use a black marker to draw on eyes, ears, and antlers.
9.   After the ornaments have dried, use the glue stick to lightly place glue around the tree and sprinkle on the glitter!
10. Place a small circle of glue at the top of the tree and add gold glitter. You could also use a star sticker!

DM Tip: Letting the paint dry before you add the glitter helps make sure you don't get glitter where you don't  want it.
DM Alternative: You could also use a mini red pom pom for the noses!
