Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

Pretzel Chicken

Pretzel Chicken Drizzled with Honey

PRETZEL CHICKEN
Total Time: 25-30 minutes, Serves: 4

You will need:

  • 4 cups pretzels, crushed (DM Tip: Place pretzels in a ziploc bag, seal, and hit with a rolling pin to crush.)
  • 4 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless), cut into 1 inch thick strips
  • 1-2 eggs, whisked
  • Honey, optional
  • Aluminum foil

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
3. Place crushed pretzels in a bag.
4. Dip chicken strips in egg wash.
5. Dip/press chicken into crushed pretzels.
6. Place chicken on baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink.
7. Drizzle with honey.

DM Alternative: For an even more kid friendly meal, cut the chicken into smaller shapes to form nuggets.

DM Alternative Recipe: This was originally a recipe I found for Pretzel Honey Mustard Chicken. However, no one in our family (except Bernardo) likes mustard so I changed the recipe. If you do enjoy mustard, here is the original recipe.

You will need:

  • Above ingredients, minus honey
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (on chicken)
  • 1/2 cup mustard (for dipping sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil.
3. Place crushed pretzels in a bag.
4. Brush chicken with mustard (both sides of chicken).
5. Dip/press chicken into pretzels.
6. Place on baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
8. Place 1/2 cup mustard, seasoning, and broth in a microwavable bowl.
9. Microwave for 1 minute, or until heated and serve with chicken.
