Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

Adventures Into Random Foodland

There are times when we can't come up with what we want to do. Mostly it happens on days when it is too hot, cold, rainy, or the kids are wound up and going to certain places are just out of the question. It's on days like these that we like to go on Random Foodland Adventures. We have a lot of grocery stores near us, including one that carries a large variety of international foods. We also have several farmer's markets that are open in the spring and summer.

We head into the store and grab a cart in case something catches our eye (or bring the canvas bags for the farmer's markets). We go in not knowing what we are looking for. Sometimes we make it a competition to see who can find the weirdest new type of food. One time we found an egg that cost $59.99. For one egg! Occasionally, the things we find are just downright ridiculous, like the energy drink clearly marketed towards kids with a Mario type of figure on the can. Other times, we like to grab random items that catch our attention and give them a try.
We have been in a snack food type of mood lately, so the last couple of Foodland Adventure items turned out to be a bag of a chocolate puff snacks and a bag of cheese stick snacks. I chose a new brand of tea to try, while Hubby grabbed a lemon cheese.

The Moby Crunchy Chocolate snacks tasted a lot like Cocoa Puffs and were a hit. The Crax sticks tasted a lot like those hard dipping breadsticks, only with a slightly odd aftertaste. The Moby bag has long been finished off, but the Crax is still sitting in the cupboard. The earl grey tea has become my new favorite brand of tea. The lemon cheese was...odd. It definitely tasted like lemon and even had bits of lemon peel in the cheese. Even the most ardent cheese lover in our house could not like this particular cheese.

Do you have have Random Foodland Adventures? What is the weirdest thing you have seen or tried at the store?
