Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

I LOVE October!

It's October! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and we celebrate big in our house. I have several fun ideas for Halloween time, so here's the first! Caramel apples.

Many grocery stores sell caramel apple kits. The kits usually include the caramel and the sticks. You will want to have wax paper too and something to cover your table or counter since the caramel can drip everywhere!

It's pretty easy to make the apples; simply insert the stick into the bottom of the apples, heat the caramel in the microwave (read the directions first!) and dip the apples in the caramel. If you like toppings, dip the caramel covered apple in nuts or candies before it hardens. Set the apple on a piece of wax paper to harden. (Hint: It's easier to remove the caramel apple from the wax paper if there are nuts or some type of covering over the caramel part of the apple sitting on the wax paper.)
