Welcome! I am a mom to two wonderful kids, a lovely retired greyhound, and a wife to a great husband. Needless to say, there are a lot of daily messes to clean up around our house. Daily Messes is my blog to share ideas on things to do with your kids, snack and meal ideas, crafts, and holiday fun. I hope you find something to enjoy!

Finding Treasures In The Park

In honor of Take A Walk In The Park Day (today), we're going on a walk to the park down the street. However, every time we go on a walk, my boys come home with pocketfuls of "treasures" (aka acorns, rocks, pine cones, leaves). Since this is all stuff I really don't want all over my house, we made treasure boxes out of old cardboard boxes. This way, they have someplace to keep what they see as little treasures. Once the box is full, they have to sort out things they want to get rid of to make room for more.

To make the treasure boxes, you need an old cardboard box (like a shoe box) or even an empty diaper wipes box. I gave them a bunch of stickers, crayons, markers, and construction paper, and let them decorate their boxes. When we got home, they had someplace to put all their stuff...I mean "treasures".
