Haunted Gingerbread House

Everyone has probably seen a gingerbread house at Christmas, but have you seen one at Halloween? My kids love making the houses at Christmas, so we started making a haunted gingerbread house (many grocery or craft stores sell kits). The kids had a blast and they enjoyed decorating the house. Only about half of the candies ended up on the house during the making of it (it mysteriously disappeared when I wasn't looking), but at least the boys had fun!

I have not yet convinced myself to be ambitious enough to make my own gingerbread. If you are like me, you can often get a gingerbread kit at your grocery store, Michael's craft store, or other local craft/hobby stores. If you have a Michael's store near you, they usually have a 40% off coupon in the Sunday paper or you can get one via email if you sign up on their website. There are several options out this year and I have seem the haunted gingerbread kits at the grocery stores, as well as craft stores.

Wilton also has a stand up house cake pan, if you prefer to decorated a haunted cake instead of gingerbread.

  1. Great Idea we love making gingerbread houses at Christmas too. My mum is one of those people that makes her own gingerbread, I am not that crazy :).
